When a baby is born, the world celebrates. There are smiles, gifts, visits, and so much love for this new little life. Yet in the quiet moments, another story unfolds — the story of the mother.
What isn’t spoken about enough is the grief that can come with motherhood. Grieving the freedom you once had. Grieving the body and energy you knew so well. Grieving the version of yourself that feels suddenly out of reach.
Alongside this grief are the relentless demands: the sleepless nights, the constant caregiving, the pressure of society’s expectations about how a “good mother” should look and act. It’s no wonder so many women feel as though their world has collapsed.
And yet — collapse is only part of the story. Because at the very same time, something new is being built. Motherhood is not just an ending, it is also a beginning. It’s the unfolding of a new identity.
Questions for Your Journey
If you find yourself in this space, I invite you to pause and reflect:
What do I miss most about the woman I used to be?
In what ways has motherhood already changed me, for better or for worse?
Who might I be becoming through these challenges?
What kind of support would help me step into this new version of myself with more ease?
These questions aren’t small. They are the foundation of transformation. Because you won’t go back to who you once were — and that’s not a loss, it’s an evolution.
Rediscovering You
This is why I created Rediscovering You, a 3-session mini programme for mums. It’s a space where you can bring your questions, your grief, your hopes, and start to shape the identity you want to grow into.
You are more than a mother. You are a woman in transformation — rediscovering who you are becoming.
